229: Alignment & Resistance – and how they both help you!

And she like gives us all the guidance and all the cool stuff. And I love it. It’s just makes it really fun. Okay. All right, enough about that. So let’s dive into today’s show, shall we?

Today,

I want to talk about how you know if you’re out of alignment, or if you’re just experiencing resistance to something.

So

this is something that has come up recently

with some people that I’ve been working with, right, which is totally normal, and really, really a good conversation to have. And I feel like so many times we think that we have to always be in alignment. And I believe that the truth is, is that the resistance helps us get to our goal even faster. So I want to explain to you what I mean. So let’s talk about alignment. First of all, so

alignment is when you feel that feeling

like you’re like, I feel really good. I feel like I’m in the present moment. I’m starting to see signs. I know the next steps. Like all of the things start to feel really good. Sometimes I’ll have people ask me like, Am I in alignment? And I’m like, do you feel good? Yes. Okay, if you feel good, you’re in alignment. Right? Because when we when we start feeling that wobbliness when we start from Feeling like, Oh, I’m not so sure that’s when we can start to sense that we’re getting out of alignment. Now, on a deeper sense, alignment is when my conscious mind isn’t, is in agreement with my subconscious mind. That’s why it feels good. There isn’t that piece of resistance there. So when I’m, I have something that I really want to work out, right. So I’ve been working out at

8am,

right, that’s been my thing. And this morning, I don’t know, I haven’t been sleeping very well. And today, I woke up and it was like 745. I mean, I don’t, I don’t hardly ever sleep in that late. And I was like, oh my god. So I knew I wouldn’t be able to work out at eight. And so I did my morning routine, you know, checked on the dogs and got my coffee and all that stuff. And then it was like almost nine. And I was not in alignment. Because I had set this idea, this goal, this thing that I would, I would move my body in any way at 8am. And so it felt off because in my subconscious mind. Now, my subconscious mind is where my habits are. And I think I mentioned this last week was the I have been doing this am now for five or six weeks, it is becoming a habit.

So I felt

weird about it, because I hadn’t worked out yet, my conscious mind and my unconscious mind was not in agreement. And I felt out of alignment. So I needed to go work out so that I would get that get through that and feel more in alignment. So I had done my workout. Even though I’d woke up later, I just moved everything back an hour, right and then I got my workout in. So when I don’t have an agreement between my conscious mind and my unconscious mind that when I don’t feel in alignment, that’s when I feel the wobble. But how is that different from resistance. So resistance is going to be, I almost think of it as an element. It is either a real or perceived element that’s holding me back from something that I want. So let’s say I have an idea of something that I want, I have a goal, maybe it’s you want to make $10,000 a month in your business, let’s say. And maybe you’ve done a lot of the work, you feel like subconsciously, you feel like there’s an alignment there. But when you go to finish out the month and close out your books for the month, you realize you haven’t hit it, maybe you come really close, but you never seem like you’re really there. And so you know that there’s something that’s holding you back, there’s a piece of resistance, another way you can you can look at it that way and actually see it another way is that you can feel it. But this doesn’t feel like when I feel really good when I’m in alignment, a piece of resistance is going to feel like doubt, or fear or comparison. So I will there is something that is not tracking that’s holding me back from getting to where I want to go. And it’s not only that my conscious mind and my unconscious mind are not in agreement, but it’s that they’re just not in agreement about a certain element. When I’m in a know when I’m in resistance when I’m having resistance, I’m also not in alignment. Okay, so if you’re thinking the seems sort of like the same thing they are, it’s either one side of the coin or the other. But when I’m talking about resistance, so many times I think what slows people down

or stops them altogether

is that they feel this resistance. And they think that it’s bigger than it is they think there’s this big wall that’s blocking them. People say to me all the time, like I’m blocked, I don’t know what to do. Like there’s no way out, I don’t see any options. But really, there is one element, one piece of resistance. And sometimes that is a mental piece. It’s the way that you’re thinking about something in relation to the goal. And sometimes there is an energetic piece. So there is something that is holding you back. That is a remnant from another experience. And maybe you’ve cleared or come to an agreement in your mind about that experience. But there is still an energetic component to it that’s holding you back. Now, sometimes that can feel really weird to people because it’s like, that doesn’t make any sense. Like there’s an energy component. And if you’re listening to this, you’re probably in on the energy conversation, right? You understand that? But if you think about us as who we are, we are energy. We’re not just physical matter, we’re energy and so the more that we can begin to bring that into the conversation and into our thinking, the more we can actually expand and start to clear things in a much faster way. Okay, so we’ve got our alignment alignments when I feel good, and I’m feeling good because my conscious mind and my unconscious mind are teamed up right? When I’m having people Resistance. It’s because my unconscious mind and my conscious mind, don’t agree. But there might be just one element, it might be one particular situation, or it might be an energetic element. Okay, where are we together on this? So how do I actually shift and get out of the resistance? There are lots of ways to do this. And, you know, I did an episode way back, I think it was like, in the single digits, like I think it was under Episode 100. Maybe it was like 78, or something like that. That’s just off the top of my head. But I had Audrey Wentz on we talked about the emotion code. Since that episode, I have become a motion code certified because she helped me so much. And I’ll do that occasionally with my clients the energy piece, right. But then there’s also a mental piece. And many times, I believe it starts there. And I think that’s a good place to start to see if you can clear that. Enter that, that resistance, that mental piece of resistance. So one of the things that we’ve been working on inside my group coaching program over the last few weeks, is this way of looking at each situation, so that we change how that situation feels. So I have a piece of resistance, there’s a there is a topic, or an activity or a goal that I want. And when I think about it in a certain way, I don’t feel good, I can feel the wobble. When I look at that, what I want to do is I want to change the wording that I’m using around it, and see if I can get to a place where it feels a lot better. We have been testing this in our group calls, just trying different things to see what can make this feel better. I believe that we are unlimited beings, you’ve probably heard me talk about this before, I believe that we are pieces of source, and that we have come down to experience a certain thing. And if we are here, and we are not experiencing the thing, we may be feeling resistance around it, because it’s something that we want and we don’t have, we also are probably thinking about it in a way that doesn’t feel good.

We have a feeling that’s yucky,

we’re feeling the wobble. It is because of the way we are thinking about it. And what it does is it’s telling me if I have the wobble, it’s telling me what I’m thinking is untrue.

So I’m gonna say that again, in different way. I’ve got something I want. And when I think about it, it makes me feel a wobble, right. And maybe for you, it’s like, I want to have a business that makes $10,000 a month. And when you think about it, you get like a feeling in your gut, right? And then you feel like a little squeeze, and then maybe you start to feel like inadequate or not worthy. Or then maybe you feel like comparison, right? The reason you’re feeling those things is because you’re thinking about it in a way that is faulty. The way you’re thinking about it isn’t true. That’s why it doesn’t feel good. If you thought about it in a way that was true, it would feel better.

So let’s take that same situation.

And let’s say you just zoomed out just a little bit. So now instead of looking at my business and saying, Oh my god, I didn’t hit the 10,000. And Will I ever be able to do this? And what about if I went out? And so I got a little more generic. And I say there’s a lot of people that have businesses like mine that make even more money than that, like, does that feel better? Right? And then you’re like, I know that there’s lots of different ways to make money, does that feel better. And then you’re like, I know that I can grow, and my business could grow, too. I know that the more I stay focused, the more things will shift. I know that when I stay focused on the right things, then those right things begin to get bigger. So now all of a sudden, it feels better, because that’s

true.

When you get to a place where you feel wobbly, and you feel the resistance, there’s a lie in there somewhere. And many times just by changing the way we’re looking at it just changing that perspective can start to change the way you’re seeing it. Now, there may still be that element, that element of resistance when you get really micro with it and you dive in and you you look at specific things. I think that’s really powerful. So many times we feel resistance, and then we’re like, oh my god, I feel resistance I feel a block I’m blocked. Right? And, and what I would say is it is a gift to be able to see that piece of resistance because then there are things you can do to start to shift it. You know, that’s one of the things that we do every week on our coaching calls is we find resistance and then we shift it so there’s so many different ways you can do that. Getting a macro look, backing up can help you get perspective. And then you can dive into each area and say, What is this specific resistance? And here’s two things that I really like to do with this is I say, what is it what I’m thinking about what aspect of this. So when I’m thinking, like other people are going faster, for example, that’s something I hear a lot, while other people have, are doing it quicker. And that feels constricting, right.

So the idea

that you have to do it at a certain pace is incorrect. That’s why it doesn’t feel good. So you can back out and say, everybody works at their own pace, and, you know, get your belief systems straight around that. But then you can also dive back in and look at that piece of resistance individually and say, Where did this start from? When did I first learned this, and there are some things that we do, to be able to get in a bit of a trance like state to be able to allow our subconscious, to move us to the very point in time where that resistance for started. So we can actually move it and remove it from our subconscious. our subconscious gets different lessons from events that we experience, but we get to choose if we want to keep that lesson. So there are things you can do to really begin to shift that. The second thing is, look at where you feel that in your body, you know, do you feel it in the pit of your stomach? Does it feel like it’s in your heart? Does it feel like it’s in your throat? Like, where is that? And does it have a color? Does it have a weight to it? Is there a size or a shape. And then see if you can start to change it just by changing those things. Make it instead of a big lead ball in your throat, make it a whole pillow full of feathers, you know, move it outside your throat, see if you can move it mentally so that it’s outside your body, see if you can throw it so it’s far away. And once you do that, go back and test and ask yourself, where’s that piece of resistance now? Is it there? Or is it just gone. So you might notice that you’re able to do this just by using your subconscious is working with you in metaphor. That’s why we dream. It’s all in metaphor. And so if you can use metaphor to, to create something different to move things around within your body, really powerful. So when we look also at our words, this can be a huge indicator of if you’re adding to the problem, or you’re helping solve the problem. You know, using the word block, it’s one thing if you say it, it’s another thing if you’re thinking it, thinking negative thoughts aren’t nearly as powerful as saying those thoughts. You know, I talked in one of my lives in the Facebook group, I talked about my coach, and I recently got a new coach, and He is a former navy seal. And one of the things he was saying this past week was that his whole thing was during training, it’s like six month training, right to be a navy seal. And you know, there’s like 340 people that started the training with him and only 18 men finished. And he said that they had a bell that they would bring everywhere, you’ve probably heard this and then you ring the bell and you it’s basically you can tap out, right? So you can be done. You could be back home, in your warm bed, and out of the cold and out of the water and all of that just by ringing that bell. And he said he refused to even look at the bell. And he would constantly tell himself, how, who he really was, he would constantly repeat this to himself. And he said this past week that he had a friend who he knew was thinking negative things like not sure if he could keep going. He said he could just tell, you know, he knew by the look in his eyes and how he was acting in some of the exercises that they were doing. And he said that the day that his friend said to him, I don’t think I’m gonna make it. He said the day he said those words out loud, he knew he was done because he he said them out loud. He made them manifest by that vibration of your sound that actually declaring it, right. So don’t be afraid of the negative thoughts. But watch yourself what you’re saying out loud. So when people say to me, I have a block like Do you really? Or is it just an element that is moving you? So here’s what I was saying at the top of this whole thing is that when we’re in alignment, we feel good when we have a piece of resistance. It’s moving us. It’s shifting us. It’s showing us a different way. Because the path that we’re on is not the path that will get us where we want to go. So it’s a huge gift. Oh my god, I have resistance. Yes, celebrate. Because now I get an opportunity to shift it and that shifts the course of my trajectory. And now To me on the path that I’m supposed to be on to get the vision that I wanted. So resistance is a great thing. You know, feeling resistance feeling like, quote, unquote, blocked,

it’s excellent,

but you’re not really blocked, it’s redirecting you. It’s a redirection to something else. So there are so many ways that you can shift these elements of resistance. So don’t let that slow you down. Let it come into your awareness. And when you’re not afraid of seeing the resistance, you’ll start to see more and more and more things that might be holding you back. Sometimes, I will be like brushing my teeth, and a belief will pop into my head. It’ll be like a sentence that I’ll think and I’ll catch it. I caught one just recently, and I was like, Oh, my gosh, I was brushing my teeth. And I was like, I had no idea. I thought that, like, I had no idea that I was thinking that, and how can I now that I see it, because I’ve let myself know, I’ve let my subconscious know that I want to see the resistance, show it to me, I’m not afraid, right? Show it to me. Then I was like, Whoa, this is something I have to work with. This is something I get to shift, how exciting because that was keeping me from the path. And now I see it. And now I can shift. So there are so many opportunities out there for you. There are so many ways that this is working for you. Don’t be afraid of any resistance that you feel, move through it, see how you can move through it energetically. See how you can move through it mentally. And take that next step.
