Welcome to the Art of Living big podcast. My name is Betsy pake. I’m an author, a speaker, and a trainer of NLP and hypnotherapy. And I’m focused on helping you understand and design your life with the power of the subconscious. This podcast is designed to help you think differently about what could be possible for your life. Now, let’s go live big. Hello fellow adventurers. Hi, everybody. Welcome to the show today. Welcome to the Art of Living big. So I’m doing something a little different today. So if you have been following me at all on Instagram, you might notice that I have been doing reels lately. And I have had a long standing fight. With doing reels and doing video. I just, I didn’t want to be dancing. And I didn’t want to be pointing at stuff. And like I just I couldn’t. I want to say like I couldn’t fathom, I couldn’t imagine how to use that in my business in a way that really felt authentic, in that I had fun with you know. And so today when I’m recording the podcasts over the past couple of weeks, because I’ve been doing these reels, everybody has said like you should record yourself doing the podcast, and those would be great reels. And so I am although the lighting is bad. But when people started saying that, to me, I was like, well, there’s a reason that I do the podcast, like there’s a reason that it’s like audio only. But I’m branching out and branching out and I’ve got video, it’s kind of dark in here. But I did get queued it up because I was like I got into this video. But I think it’s important to try new things over the past month. And it may have mentioned this last week, but I have been diving in to hypnosis every single day diving in diving in. I am not sure hypnosis is either long ones. And really trying to connect into some of the patterns that we’re running in place. Patterns, action patterns, but also thought patterns that were holding me in place in my business. Now. You’ve heard me talk before about who we’re being like how we’re showing up. And I was realizing about five or six weeks ago that there was some patterns that I think were like the Jux of the problem, right? So I’m like, I’ve got to shift these patterns. And I think I’ve told you guys, I use an app called day one, which is like a journaling app. And it shows you what you wrote like last year, two years ago, five years ago, seven years ago. And when I first started the podcast, I talked to somebody, and they had a multimillion dollar business. And I told them what I wanted to do. And they said to me, you know, the version of me that has this business. There was a version of me when I first started, which I was like just starting the podcast, there was a version of me that just started that could not have handled this. And I remember being like, I can handle it, Kenny, like I can handle it, give me a million dollars, I can handle that. And the interesting thing was, and she went on, and she said that that version of me was so different, and thought so different. And handled issues, so different. And so many things. The way that I saw the world was so different, it’s almost seems like it’s a different person. And I’m all about the growth, right, just like you like that’s why we’re here together. So I was like, Well, you know, I’m ready. If that’s what I’ve been saying. Like I’m ready, I’m ready. Oh, I’m ready. But the truth is, is that I wasn’t really ready, or I would have had it. And so about a month ago, I was like what are the things that are actually holding me back. And let’s like really dive in and attack those I feel so incredibly different than I did when I started this process. And if you listen to the episode where I talked about COVID and all the things going wrong, I believe that was all a lead up to this. You know, you’ve heard me say before, everything doesn’t have to work out the way you want in order for it to be what you need. And that has not never been as true in my life as this. And now when I look back at that, like seven years ago version of Have me like there was a lot she had to offer and all of that. And the way she thought was set was it she wasn’t ready, the things I thought I was ready for I wasn’t ready. Now. Which brings me to today, there are things that I want that I’m probably not ready for. Now I can see how when we are ready, those things come naturally. So I decided I was going to identify the places where I felt I was not ready, where I was hitting my own personal glass ceiling and I was going to do the work to start to shift that. So I have been doing NLP, which I do NLP on myself almost daily anyway. And then Sunday nights, I have sort of a practice where I do a sweep and clean up the whole week. And you guys might not have as many cringe worthy moments, as I have during the week that I have to keep a list and clear things. But that’s been so helpful. And that has been a regular practice for a long time. But now doing the hypnosis every single day, like an incredible shift and incredible shift. years ago, back in 2018 19, even the beginning of 2020, before COVID, I ran a program called the rise. And since then I’ve run it every single year, it is it was a program that had content. So there was like content to to consume videos and trainings and processes, it was really like a big giant toolbox with all of the things in it that I wanted people to know, this was different than the institute where I teach people to be coaches or to, like, really understand the science behind this work and what we’re doing, and people that want to help others or help their family or help themselves on a deeper level. But the the rise was how do I how do I create this change? How do I identify each area of my life, you know, my my relationships, my, my relationship with myself, my relationship with my subconscious, my relationship with money, like it really each module really touched on each of those areas. So every year, I would run this after I ran it for several years, and then I would run it once a year. And then I would have like a small coaching group along with it. And it was a high ticket offer, it was high touch, I was very involved with the people that were going through the group. And now you know, things are shifting in my business. And I’m moving away from doing that I did it last year. But I think that was the last year that I’m going to do it. But the content is so good. Like it’s it the content itself is life changing. And so I thought, let me give people access to that content. So that they can start to make changes that they want to see in their lives, then they’ll have access to it forever. It can be self paced, and they can start to move through things. So I put that together. It’s called alchemy of self. And it’s on my website in the menu under work with me, if that is of interest to you. And you get it this month, the month of August. If you get it in the month of August, I’m going to add you to a hypnosis library so that you get all these hypnosis audios, so that you can start to do this work every single day if you want to, like I have been and move through some of the big things that are causing your glass ceiling. So that’s going to be a bonus for the month of August. So just go to my website alchemy of self and then and then when you come in. I will I will manually add you to the to the hypnosis library that way you get it. So the hypnosis lately this, this has been my friend. So I want to dive into this just a little bit because this might be helpful to you as you start to think about what it is you want. You know we’re in the second half of the year and you know, I love like New Year’s Mondays. Anytime I can reset. Sometimes it’s like, oh, it’s after noon, I can reset right? Anything I did before. Doesn’t matter anymore because I can choose something different right? Every moment I get to choose something different. And I wrote down I have this little traveler’s notebook. Have you ever seen those those little like leather travels, traveler’s notebooks.

I love it. I write down everything in this, but I wrote down. I want unreasonable success. And I want to talk about that. Because I don’t know if maybe that is poking you a little bit, like unreasonable or even the word success and so I want to dive into that just a little bit. When I started this whole process of like really diving into hypnosis, and I have used hypnosis a lot, I mean, I train people to be hypnotherapists. So I have used hypnosis a lot. But this is a season where I’m really, really diving in deep. And one of the things when I wrote down that unreasonable success, and then I thought, what is that even mean? And what’s reasonable? And what’s, what unreasonable? And who decides that and what is success and who decides that. And just like, you might be thinking, we each can decide for ourselves what that means. So, for me, unreasonable, meant that based on my past circumstances, or even my past, like decade, what’s about to happen? would seem out of the blue, you know how sometimes we see people that are super successful, and we’re like, all of a sudden, they just took off, but they didn’t really they were doing like a ton of work, right? They were doing like 350 podcast episodes before. But then something shifts. And I believe that shift is an energetic shift, I believe that there is a tipping point. And that tipping point may be like doing enough episodes that people get out, but I believe, deep, deeper, more deeply, that it is an energetic shift. Now, if there is an energetic shift that has to happen, where does that come from? I believe that that comes that our energy, when we say our vibration, our vibration is really what we’re thinking all the time, when we’re not consciously thinking, it comes from our unconscious mind. Our unconscious mind is constantly thinking and processing an astounding amount more than our conscious mind. Okay, so if that’s true, then the, the vibe, the energy, the actions, the triggers, the emotions, the patterns, all of that’s coming from my unconscious mind. You know, when you walk into a room, and you just like somebody’s that is a good vibe, like, they just feel good. I remember years ago, I went to the airport, I lived in Washington, DC. And I was at the airport really late. It was like 1230 at night, and I had come in late from a flight. And it was like our plane and one other plane were the only planes that had landed and people were walking to get their luggage. And I saw this woman and I, she did not looked familiar to me at all at that moment. But I was so drawn to her. I was like, Oh my God, what that like, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Charismatic, it’s 1230 in the morning, like in the morning. She was just walking. But there was something. It was Sandra Bullock. It was Sandra Bullock after I was standing there. Second, I was like, Oh my God, that Sandra Bullock. I believe that people that are like, in that sort of, I want to say that level of success. But that sort of realm have something that give us some kind of energy. But it comes from your unconscious mind. It comes from the things that you’re not thinking about. So when I think about like, I want unreasonable success, I want it to seem like how did that happen all of a sudden. And so I knew that if I wanted Sandra Bullock energy, that I had to shift internally, on a level that I couldn’t like, read books and listen to podcasts, honestly enough to change as quickly as I wanted to. I want speed. I want a big shift. I wanted to be unreasonable. Like that doesn’t even make sense. That felt so fun to me. That what if I did so much work on my unconscious mind, mind that my actions just became different, that I just became different. And then I became the version that I need to be two years from now I become it now. What if time can be condensed? And what if we think time, which is a construct of the subconscious mind, right? Like, it helps us organize thoughts or ideas, but like it’s not, what if that’s not even what we think it is? Okay, so that’s unreasonable. And I believe each and every one of us can have an unreasonable amount of success. Now, if you are new here and you haven’t heard the episode on what does it mean to live big? I want you to listen to that episode, because in that episode I talk about out how it’s not being Sandra Bullock, it’s not that it’s being as much as you can right where you are with the circumstances of your life as they are. So, can I do a whole bunch of content in front of my oceanfront home? No, because I don’t own my oceanfront home. But I can do a ton of content in the home. I do own in Atlanta, Georgia. I can, I can do the things that I want to do. They’re in the same energy, right? So how do I move into becoming the person because it’s not the environment. That is a conscious thing. It’s not your environment that’s creating this last year, last January, I went down to the beach for a month, if you’ve been here a while, you know, I’m obsessed. It’s all I talk about is the beach. Although I really don’t want to move there. Right now. That’s not on my plan. But I love it. So I tried to go down, I went down for a month. And I got an oceanfront condo. And I was looking out on the ocean. I was like, I got there. And I was like, Yes. And I just like, talk to her. And I was like, I love you so much. I’m gonna come and see you every day that I’m here. And after like five days, it, I was shocked that it became like white noise. I didn’t, I’d look at it. But I wasn’t like out there frolicking in the waves. I mean, it was cold, but like it, it’s not your environment that gets you to do the things you want to do. It’s you, it’s internal. And to shift that energy and to shift all of the patterns and ways and triggers and the things that you think it’s an internal. So it doesn’t matter if I’m at a beachfront condo, it doesn’t matter if I’m a beachfront Palace, doesn’t matter if I’m in Atlanta, Georgia, the unreasonable success is going to come from me being as big as I can in the situation that I have, that I have found myself in. And even if your situation is like little, but I found myself in this really crappy situation. I’ve had that happen. And then you take a step forward, and another step forward, what could be a little bit different? What could be a little bit better? So back to my idea, unreasonable success. So success? What is that? Because that can be very different things to different people. In fact, most of the people I know, have different definitions of what success is, in fact, I would be hard pressed to find anybody that has the same exact idea of what success is, and what success feels like. And how do you even know when you’re successful? Think about that. I mean, pause this for a second and think about that. How will you know when you’re successful? What’s your evidence procedure, what

that’s an NLP term. But like, what happens that you go, Oh, my God, I’m successful. I had to really identify what that was. Because the seven year old,

were seven years back version of me would have killed to be where I am right now. It would have been like, yeah, how cool. You have this cool house and right in the cool part of Atlanta, like you’re able to do your work full time you got the like, I would be ecstatic. But because I hadn’t truly like identified, I didn’t notice when I got here. And sometimes we set these, like I want to be, and Sandra Bullock, right. I want to be big I want to be, but we can set goals that are smaller and achievable. We can set this vision of success, what can be success for me right now? Because then once I reach that, and I recognize it, and I celebrate, and I say good job, subconscious way to go, then I can set up the next thing. Okay, so now I’m here. What would success be from here? So I want to offer that to you, you may have your own definition of success, and that’s fine. But I’m just offering an idea of what would success mean from where you are, and then stretch it out? What would be unreasonable? Like could I go just a little farther? Could I go just a little faster? Now? I’m a speed girl, because I like I like I automatic gratification, right? Which is why I’m a you know, boy, too many things come from Amazon, honestly. But i i This is why I love working with the subconscious mind. Because conscious effort, conscious change takes so long and honestly your unconscious mind is built to pull you back. So if you’re consciously making changes in your constant Lee thinking about I’ve got to do this and I’m trying to do And then the saddest thing to me is then when people message me, and they’re like, I’ve been working at this for so long and nothing’s changed, like I keep slipping back, you keep hitting your own personal glass ceiling. But the truth is that that’s not your fault. It’s because your brain is freaking beautiful. And it’s working to bring you back. It’s working to keep you the same, it thinks that’s how you’re going to stay alive. And so coming up with what is success for me right now? And then what do I have to shift internally? How would I have to think differently? What patterns would I have to let go of? Who would I have to forgive? What do I have to heal? What would I have to learn? There is so many things in here that you can be working on. Like I said, I have my little traveler’s journal, constantly writing stuff. And there are times for momentum, if you’re listening to me, and you’re like, This is exhausting me. It’s not. We have seasons, right, you have a season to really grow, and you have a season to like, rest, you might be in a season of rest, I had been in a season of rest for some time. And then I felt the time to go, that it was time to really do it, that I had the energy and I had the internal fortitude to make some big changes. And so I dove in, and I dove in in the place that I know matters, which is my unconscious mind, I did not worry about changing anything in my environment or with my behavior, because I knew that would happen. And when I started to shift, when I started to do that internal work, I realized that I wanted to do reels, you know, that was like my big thing is like I was like, I’m like hated Instagram. I was like, I like being on here and also hate it because I don’t want to do that. I made a reel this morning. And it’s like one of those transition videos. You get it go, if you’re on Instagram, please go cheer me on because it’s a little stressful. But I made this transition video with the NLP practitioner manual. And it took a lot of effort. I had to like play that dang music over and over again to get the timing. And finally got it to where I was like, it’s not perfect, but it’s good enough. And that’s okay, that’s good enough. And I’m gonna post it. And it was fun to do like I’m laughing in the video, I was actually laughing like, it was fun. That would not have been the case two months ago, because I was thinking different things. I was being someone different. And I felt like unreasonable success. It would be helpful to have unreasonable success if I was showing what I do and how I do it and inviting people in, like, why wouldn’t I be doing that? It’s like, I have this amazing thing that I’m just like hiding from everybody. Do you know how many different ways there are to work with me, you can join the Institute and get certified to be a life coach, you could get the alchemy of self and you could do go on your own personal journey. If you just want to dabble you can get that subconscious genius and learn more about the subconscious mind. You can listen to the podcast, you can also work with me one on one, I worked with somebody a couple of weeks ago that reached out to me and said that she was struggling because she had gotten divorced. And she was like, I am so struggling because I can’t go back into the house. When I go back to the house. Like I feel like I just panic. And I think that’s such a common thing. Right? I mean, of course, it’s overwhelming, when we have a lot of conflicting emotions and probably sadness. And it takes a while to process that stuff. But you might still have to go in the house before you’re done processing. And so we did some shifts on her the work that we did, we talked for a little bit, but the work that we did took about four minutes. She was like, I’m like I feel dizzy, which is really common, because we’re reorganizing your unconscious mind. And then she messaged me and said I was able to go back. Like I can think about it and it doesn’t stress me out. Like it’s so powerful to make these shifts and you can learn how to do them yourself. I have ways where you can work with me one on one, I have a program where you can work with me. And I have a couple spots open right now. So when you think about unreasonable success, I was like hiding myself. So I’m like you want to have success, but you’re hiding. So I decided reels would be a way for me to get the word out. It would be a way for me to share what I do, and it would be better to have more fun with it. And so that’s what I started working on. That’s what I started hypnotizing myself about not just reels specifically. But how do I change how I view myself? How do I restructure the stories around my confidence and what I have to offer and what is available to me? How can I begin to receive, because I’m really great at giving, but receiving felt a little bit. I call crunchy. I noticed when I have thoughts that feel crunchy, right, like there’s like some kind of something in it, that doesn’t feel good. And I want to fix that the crunchy things are the things that I go after. So I think that we all deserve unreasonable success. And we all deserve to live as big as we can in the space that we have. And we all deserve to be able to live a what I call a big life. So think about what is success to you? And what would make it unreasonable. Unreasonable just feels fun, at least to me own that if you like it, too. But I want to be I want to, I just want to delight myself and surprise myself. So thank you so much for being here with me this week. I love you guys so much. If you liked this episode, please share it with a friend helped me to be unreasonable, and to help other people become unreasonable, too. All right. I love you guys. See you later.
